Golf training aids

Golf training aids are pieces of equipment or software that are used to practice and improve an aspect of ones golf swing or game. The truth is there are hundreds of golf training aids that exist today and many do the same thing.  In my opinion a lot of faults can be fixed without them as nearly every fault is stemmed from a bad set up. Anyway here I will talk over a few of the more popular ones and ones that I may recommend.

One of the best golf training aids for rhythm and swing speed is the heavy or weighted golf club which can be quite costly.  An alternative to this would be to swing two golf clubs at once.  The weighted golf club works because it is much much heavier than a normal golf club.  This then prevents the swinger from swinging too hard and forcing the shot often leading to bad shots.  When the golfer swings a normal club he should swing it as though he was swinging the heavy club. An added feature to this is that it develops the golf muscles quite well.

One of the best golf training aids for chipping and pitching is the chipping net.  It is very effective for practising distance control because all you have to do is land the ball in the net.  An alternative to this is to turn an umbrella upside down or better yet pick a spot on the grass and aim to land it there.  The chipping net golf training aids are world wide popular and even on the pga tour as well.  This means they are a big hit.

One of the best golf training aids for putting is the putting mat.  These are very handy because you can use them in your own living room. They are about 6 feet long allowing you to perfect your putting stroke.  The only downside of them is that you cant really putt from any other angle its just the same one over again.  They are still handy though for quick warm ups or when the weather is bad.

Over all I do think golf training aids are handy but to be honest I don't use them I just stick to conventional methods of practice.  They are great for the beginner though.
