The causes of a slice

How to fix a slice

Virtually all problems or bad golf shots are caused by a bad set up.  If the setup is bad chances are your shot will be bad aswell.  So to start fixing your slice we will look at the basics to make sure that they are correct.  The first thing that you should do is check your alignment.  Chances are that your body is open and this will cause you to swing out to in.  To fix this you should lay to clubs on the ground parallel to each other pointing at your target.  This will give you perfect aim.

Now we are going to look at how the grip can show you how to fix a slice.  If your grip is too weak it will cause a slice because the hands cant release properly.  To make sure your grip is correct check that Vs formed by your fore finger and thumb are parallel and pointing to your right shoulder.

Drills

Now we are going to look at drill that will show you how to fix a slice.  If all of your basics are fine then the only problem you have is that you are swinging on an out to in path.  To cure this which is quite easy simply place your headcover beside the ball about an inch away.  Hit shots without hitting the headcover.  The headcover forces you to swing on an in to in swing path which will give you straight shots.
