After just three years since the titleist pro v1 was released they created a counterpart to it. They created the pro v1 x which has fewer dimples for increased accuracy and distance of the tee. In 2007 acushnet which owns titleist was sued by callaway because of patents used in the titleist pro v1. They demanded a re trial and they developed a new pro v1 golf ball which was then ruled in favour of acushnet.
